Dentsply Tulsa Dental Specialties(history continued)Never an organization to rest on past successes, DENTSPLY Endodontics continues its pursuit of technological advances in endodontic treatment. In May of 1998, Tulsa Dental added to its line of highly advanced instruments with the introduction of ProFile® GT® Rotary files. The company now offers an all-encompassing array known as the ProFile® Family of instruments, which is positioned to set the standard in endodontic treatment for years to come. And innovation doesn't stop there. In 1999, Tulsa Dental introduced a revolutionary root repair material, ProRoot® MTA, which generated enormous excitement in the field due to its application in cases which were previously considered untreatable. The beginning of 2001 has seen the promise of several years of design work become reality with the expansion of the ProFile® GT® line making it the first truly integrated instrumentation and obturation system. The ProSystemGT® technique for root canal shaping and obturation incorporates matched, solid-core obturators specifically fitting preparations created with these instruments. Another new design of file was introduced at the AAE meeting in early 2001. ProTaper® instruments feature multiple tapers in each file and enhanced cutting surfaces engineered to more efficiently shape canals. The relatively small line of instruments were specifically created for the experienced endodontist working in the most challenging of cases. The renewed interest in the biological issues involved in root canal therapy led to the introduction of BioPure™ MTAD® root canal cleanser. This formulation, for the first time, combined components designed to remove smear layer and kill organisms which lead to root canal failure. Obturation again became the focus in 2005 with the introduction of the Calamus® Flow obturation delivery system. The revolutionary pen-like design of the Calamus® handpiece signaled a new level of ease in gutta-percha placement in the canal space. On January 1, 2007, DENTSPLY Friadent Ceramed was merged into the Tulsa division bringing its implant products such as the Ankylos®, Syncone® and XiVE® lines as well as the PepGen® and Osteograf® bone grafting lines. With the new products and expanded sales and customer service staff came a new name, DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties. In October of 2007 Tulsa Dental Specialties introduced GT® Series X™ rotary instruments with M-Wire™ niti. Based on the popular ProFile® GT® rotary instruments, the GTX instruments feature variable width lands and a shallower pitch for more efficient debris removal. The other major change came with the introduction of M-Wire™ niti. This revolution in nickel-titanium processing allows the GTX instruments to reach new levels of flexibility and resistance to cyclic fatigue. Other new products are constantly in development, and enhancements to existing lines are always being explored. Today, DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties is at the threshold of a new stage of advancement, having inaugurated its internet site as a nexus for product information, up-to-the-minute research sources, and an exchange for students and professionals in the field. Experts in research and development tirelessly evaluate new products and methods to advance the art of root canal therapy, and educational efforts proceed vigorously nationwide. In every way, DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental continues to shape the future of endodontics. |
