Inevitably, even more momentous changes were looming for TDP. In January, 1996, DENTSPLY International, Inc., announced the acquisition of the dental manufacturing and distribution operations of Tulsa Dental Products. The rechristened DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental joined a prestigious family of companies recognized around the world as the leading manufacturers and suppliers of a broad range of products for the dental market.

True to form, in February, 1997, Tulsa Dental introduced the ThermaSystem® Plus, which includes new, improved Thermafil® Plus obturators, a redesigned ThermaPrep® Plus oven, new ThermaSeal® Plus, and advanced design nickel titanium size verifiers. Subsequently, at the AAE meeting in May, 1997, Tulsa Dental introduced ProFile® .04 Taper® hand files in ISO sizing, further enhancing their unique line of endodontic instruments.

Then, in November of 1997, Tulsa Dental formed a new partnership which was the culmination of long-range plans to create the country's only full-service endodontic supplier. The endodontic arm of DENTSPLY Caulk joined with Tulsa Dental, creating a new division known as DENTSPLY Endodontics. The new enterprise encompasses all facets of research and development, manufacturing, and distribution of a full range of endodontic supplies through both direct (Tulsa Dental) and distributor (Maillefer, formerly Caulk Endodontics) channels.
