FILE IDENTIFICATION 		Order form

The ProSystem GT® rotary instruments have incorporated an easy-to-understand file identification system. The files feature a color band which indicates the tip size of the instruments. ProSystemGT Instrument and Obturator


The colors correspond to the ISO standards:

  • Yellow is for files which are 20 at the tip
  • Blue is for files which are 30 at the tip
  • Black is for files which are 40 at the tip
  • Green is for accessory files which are 35 or 70 at the tip
  • Yellow is also for accessory files which are 50 at the tip


    • A series of grooves or taper rings on the handle show the taper of each of the individual instruments. Each ring is equivalent to .02 of taper.

  • Two rings is .04 taper
  • Three rings is .06 taper
  • Four rings is .08 taper
  • Five rings is .10 taper
  • Six rings is .12 taper


    • The same system is applied to the matching GT® Obturators. Simply pick the same color obturator (handle) which matches the last ProFile GT® rotary instrument taken to length. Be sure to verify the taper is the same by comparing the number of bands in the file and the obturator handle.
